Finally, after spending more than 4 months on the road my VOYO V2 TV Box arrived. I had pretty much forgotten about it, but I’m really glad it showed up now just before Citrix Synergy 2016.
This incredible little device is worth its price in gold (you even get a Windows 10 x32 Home license). There’s nothing to solder or case to mount. It’s ready to go out of the box. Heck, you can even use it as a mobile charger when you’re travelling.
The Raspberry Pi vs other Thin Clients discussion has been going on for a while now, but would you pay $74.99 for the RPi3 or $99.99 for a VOYO V2 TV Box?
That’s right! For ONLY $25 more you get a real Windows-based Thin Clients which has all the stuff that the Raspberry Pi3 doesn’t.
Skype for Business, Web Camera, Smart Card Support and so on. Install ThinKiosk on top of it and you have a killer Thin Client.
I’ve already covered ThinLinx on Raspberry PI First Impressions and The Best Windows Thin Client in great details. I still mean that a Windows-based Thin Client will always be the best & the most flexible and feature-rich.
The only thing that I needed to do was to download and install the Citrix Receiver 4.4 and HDX RealTime Media Engine 2.0 for Windows bundle and run Windows Update to get the drivers for my Microsoft LifeCam web camera. Skype for Business was working really well out of the box.
I really like the Raspberry Pi3 don’t get me wrong. But when you’re planning and performing a PoC on various Thin Clients keep in mind Bandwith and CPU time used as well.
There you go, the worlds best and cheapest thin client could well be the VOYO V2 TV Box.
Dual monitors, that’s the one item stopping us from testing these out. I’d guess about 60% of our thin clients are dual monitor.
Agree, but that’s the same problem as with the RPi3. So you might want to look at the Intel NUC instead.
Pity it only has a 100M Ethernet port.
Does it come with a 64GB SSD (or not)? I find the wording a bit confusing on their website.
64GB SSD 2GB RAM 32GB ROM Intel Baytrail T Z3735 Quad-Core HDMI WiFi Bluetooth
The comparison picture above is saying that the PI is better than the VOYO, is it not ?
PI = 4% more CPU, less mem, gets better frame rate, 4ms thinwire.
VOYO = less cpu usage, more mem, less frame rate, 16ms thinwire, lossless text.
Whats a good video card to get that you can use with XenDesktop 7.9 that suppports HDX £D Pro and is a low profile card?
where can I get the world cheapest thin client
Here’s a new one: http://tech.daneyoung.com/the-77-compute-stick-endpoint-for-citrix-xenappxendesktop-and-vmware-horizon-virtual-desktops-that-supports-4k-displays/
Hello, after one year of use. What do you think of the performance???
Hi Javier, I’m not using this client at all as a thin client. I would recommend looking into Igel UD Pocket.
